1. Two money flows
A. Software, domains and hardware you buy from us. A business pays COZQ Limited. We use Stripe to collect that payment and we are the merchant of record for the charge.
B. Client payments to a business. Deposits, prepayments, POS card sales, cancellation fees, gift cards, memberships and similar client charges are taken as Stripe Connect payments on the business's connected Stripe account. The business is the merchant of record for those client charges.
2. Client payments to a business
Each participating business must complete Stripe Connect onboarding. Client payments are processed on that connected account. Any Cobbtree fee is shown before it applies. Stripe provides the payment service under its own terms, and the business remains responsible for its connected-account balance.
If Stripe suspends or restricts a connected account, the business may be unable to take cards through Cobbtree. That is between the business and Stripe. We are not obliged to process cards as principal or to lend funds.
Saved customer cards, where offered, are held securely by Stripe. A business cannot see full card details. A later charge, such as a disclosed late-cancellation fee, is only attempted where the customer has authorised that use.
3. Cobbtree subscription billing
Plan prices, trials, founder offers, VAT treatment and renewal are described in the Business Terms using the live public catalogue. A card on file for Cobbtree charges is not used to pay a client's haircut. Business gift cards cannot pay the Cobbtree subscription.
4. Card data
Card details are handled by Stripe group companies under Stripe's terms. Cobbtree does not store full primary account numbers or CVCs. We store payment metadata needed to show the diary, receipts and billing screens.
5. Fees
Stripe processing fees are charged by Stripe to the connected account. Cobbtree platform, new-client, gift-card, membership, SMS or other fees apply only as shown in the public catalogue or the business billing screen before the relevant charge. Historical charges keep the commercial snapshot that applied when they were taken.
6. Refunds, disputes and chargebacks
Refunds are made against the original client charge. Chargebacks and disputes are handled through the business's Stripe account. The business is responsible for evidence and outcomes. We may help with platform logs. We cannot compel Stripe to reverse a dispute decision.
7. Payouts and downtime
Payouts follow Stripe's schedule to the bank details the business supplied. Incorrect bank information, Stripe reserves, processor downtime and suspected fraud controls can delay or block payouts. Fraud screening may cause us or Stripe to hold or refund a charge.
8. Regulation
COZQ Limited is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority to provide payment services. Stripe is the payment service provider. Tax on a business's sales is the business's responsibility. VAT on Cobbtree's own invoices is UK VAT on those supplies.
